This husband-wife duo met in 1978 when both were members of Truth. After marrying in 1980, they performed as a duo for a short while, until Dick became the musical director for Sandi Patty and Mel formed the award winning vocal group, First Call. Both continued writing, however, and they won there first of many Dove Awards in 1985 for Larnelle Harris's How Excellent Is Thy Name. The Tunney's have penned songs recorded by Steve Green, Larnelle Harris, Sandi Patty, The Imperials, Glad and others. One of the most widely sung songs that the Tunneys have ever written is Seekers of Your Heart."
