Don Gladden, Scott Callender, Dave Oakley, Dave and Matt Tolbert formed Catch77 while in college (Collegedale,Tennessee). They have a contemporary sound with original compositions on their two CDs. Their credits include opening for 4HIM at a Florida concert.
Catch77 is a brit-pop style Christian band with influences ranging from U2 to jars of clay to Deliriou5. Propaganda, their second full-length album, represents their interests and artistry with a polished yet passionate sound created in part at Paramount Studios, Hollywood, CA. Matthew Tolbert is a passionate singer/songwriter. His lyrics capture personal moments of his life with a poetic sense of contemplation and spiritual searching. He writes, "In every song there must be an element of love or an element of hope. If either of them are missing then the point of writing music is lost."
Matthew's sound is a mixture of acoustic and electric guitars set to a brit-pop style of songwriting. There is an emphasis on melody and harmony accompanied by a driving rhythm that infuses each song with a high amount of energy while keeping the listener engaged through thoughtful lyrics.
