Growing up a son of missionary parents, Ivan Colon developed his love of music early in his youth. He learned to play piano while in the mission field in Africa and Russia. Later, he participated in academy choirs and small groups, picking up the guitar. During college, he began writing his own music.
His music expands the boundaries of the current genre of contemporary Christian music. You won't hear the typical catchy tune or praise mantra we've all become overly familiar with in modern praise and worship music. Yet, Ivan's style is wonderfully fresh, poetic and personal; one might even call his lyrics modern day psalms. His songs reveal his deep, ongoing and ever-growing relationship with Christ and thus, with the world around him and those who are part of that world.
